Senior Accountant – Healthcare

Location: Remote (New Jersey)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Position Type: Contract
Reports To: Director of Treasury

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support accounting, treasury, and financial reporting functions within a fast-paced healthcare environment. This role is responsible for financial statement preparation, general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, month-end close activities, and ensuring compliance with GAAP .

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in treasury operations and debt management , excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating across teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, analyze, and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Perform timely reconciliation and analysis of general ledger accounts
• Prepare and post journal entries and support month-end close processes
• Investigate discrepancies and recommend process improvements
• Maintain supporting schedules for balance sheet and income statement accounts
• Reconcile daily cash activity and investigate variances
• Manage cash transfers, wire transactions, and cash records
• Support treasury operations, including debt management activities
• Process accounts payable transactions and ensure timely vendor payments
• Review vendor statements, resolve discrepancies, and apply credits
• Maintain accurate vendor master records
• Assist with preparation of annual operating and capital budgets
• Upload and manage budgets within financial systems
• Prepare and communicate monthly close calendars and deadlines
• Collaborate with financial institutions, auditors, and internal finance teams
• Prepare audit schedules and support internal/external audits
• Identify accounting issues and internal control gaps; recommend solutions
• Respond to internal and external inquiries in a timely, professional manner

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• CPA required
• Minimum 4+ years of accounting experience (10+ years strongly preferred)
• Strong background in treasury and debt management
• In-depth knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
• Experience with general ledger, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently
