Bookkeeper

Tiello is currently partnered with an established construction contractor seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to support the company's day-to-day accounting, job cost, payroll reporting, and financial administration. This is a small, close-knit office where professionalism, confidentiality, dependability, and long-term fit are extremely important. Role Summary The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records and supporting the financial operations of the business. This individual will work closely with company ownership, field leadership, the company's outside payroll provider, and accounting professionals to ensure labor, job cost, and financial information is entered and maintained accurately. The ideal candidate has significant bookkeeping or accounting experience, understands the importance of discretion in a small business environment, and can operate independently with minimal oversight. Industry / Accounting Environment Commercial Construction Specialty Contracting Construction Accounting Job Cost Accounting Weekly Field Labor Reporting Payroll Coordination Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable Month-End and Year-End Accounting Job Responsibilities Maintain accurate day-to-day bookkeeping and financial records Collect weekly employee time from field foremen Enter field labor hours into the accounting system for job cost and bookkeeping purposes Coordinate payroll information with the company's third-party payroll provider Maintain accurate job cost reporting across active construction projects Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions Perform account and bank reconciliations Maintain general ledger records and supporting documentation Assist with month-end and year-end accounting processes Prepare financial documentation for company leadership and outside accounting professionals Assist ownership with year-end reporting and accounting preparation Maintain organized financial, payroll, and employee records Handle confidential company and employee information with discretion Provide additional accounting and administrative support as needed Qualifications / Requirements Previous bookkeeping, accounting, or construction accounting experience Strong understanding of general accounting and bookkeeping principles Experience with Trimble Spectrum , formerly Spectrum Construction Software, is highly preferred Previous construction, mechanical, electrical, or specialty contractor accounting experience preferred Experience with job costing and field labor reporting preferred Accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliation, and general ledger experience Previous CPA firm or public accounting experience is highly desirable Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently and manage multiple accounting responsibilities Strong interpersonal and communication skills High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality Comfortable working directly with company ownership in a small-office environment Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. Tiello LLC is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
