The nurse will work in a treatment clinic that provides care for cancer patients. Shifts available include day shifts with hours ranging from 7:00 AM to 10:30 PM. Weekends and holidays may be required based on facility needs. Patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:3 to 1:4. Candidates should be comfortable with walking patients through their treatment processes. Skills required include the administration of chemotherapy and biotherapy, blood transfusions, and IV management. The nurse will also be responsible for patient education and symptom management. The unit features treatment chairs for outpatient services and private rooms for evaluations. Evaluation patients may require extended observation post-treatment. Key procedures include blood glucose monitoring, electrolyte replacement, and telemetry monitoring. Candidates should be able to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team. Familiarity with patient diagnoses such as hematological malignancies and solid tumors is essential. Providing compassionate care and support to patients and families is a critical component of this role. The environment is fast-paced with the need to adapt to changing patient needs.
