Staff Accountant

Accounting Role

What you'll do:

For this role, we are seeking a highly-motivated, hands-on individual who has the knowledge and experience to build our accounting processes. This includes overseeing the implementation process, evaluating software, and recommending procedures. This position interacts daily with all areas of the organization, including our retail stores, office support staff, vendors, and customers, and is responsible for managing all of the company's accounting and reporting functions.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Ensure accuracy of the general ledger and entity records, and manage all entries in compliance with GAAP
• Accounts Payables
• Verify, process and reconcile payments to vendors
• Fixed Assets
• ROU
• Prepare and update fixed asset amortization and depreciation schedules
• Prepare and update ROU amortization schedules
• Prepare bank and account reconciliations and monitor cash balances
• Retail / operational accounting reconciliations and troubleshooting as needed of various accounts including, but not limited to: bank deposit, credit cards, and lottery sales
• Conduct weekly and month-end review of merchandise and fuel margins for retail locations
• Field questions, communicate, and collaborate with Store Managers on various issues and escalate as necessary
• Monthly sales tax reporting
• Annual 1099 reporting
• Review lease documentation and ensure that all charges are billed according to the terms
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in accounting required
• Previous experience in retail operations required, preferably in the convenience store industry/Fuel Industry
• Strong analytical skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Previous experience using QuickBooks
• PDI Enterprise knowledge is a PLUS
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written correspondence
