Carpenter II (Multiple Positions) Posting Number: req26323 Department: Facilities Mgmt-Maint Services Location: Tucson Campus – Tucson, AZ, USA Position Highlights: University Facility Services is seeking to fill multiple Carpenter II positions. This role involves constructing, repairing, restoring, and installing structural woodwork and related materials, following university design standards, policies, and procedures in a professional manner, ensuring quality workmanship, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and providing positive customer relations. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Duties & Responsibilities Construct, repair, restore and install structures such as floors, doors, steel stud walls, drywall, windows, stairways, furniture, cabinets, shelves, and roofs. Operate and perform preventative maintenance on hand and power saws, planers, lathes, joiners, shapers, drills, sanders and a variety of hand tools. Install locks, knobs, hinges, closures, and other fixtures to structures; clean equipment, shop area, and work site area. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials common to the commercial carpentry trade. Ability to communicate effectively. Excellent customer service skills. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required. Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience is required, or an equivalent combination of education, technical training, apprenticeship training, and relevant experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy. Preferred Qualifications Experience in estimating time and material requirements of work projects assigned. Experience in commercial cabinet and casework fabrication and installation. Experience with computer data entry and software such as MS Word, Outlook, Excel. Experience in hanging drywall, tape and texture. Experience in acoustical ceiling grid installation and ceiling tile.
