Charge Nurse (RN) - Psychiatric - $36-58 per hour

Job Title Psychiatric Charge Nurse (RN) – Staffing (Ongoing) Location Saint Louis, Missouri. Overview BJC HealthCare’s Psychiatry department includes three inpatient psychiatric units and an outpatient ECT program. The unit serves a diverse patient population, utilizing group activity, music therapy, and individualized care. The Charge Nurse will oversee unit operations, coordinate care transitions, and serve as a clinical resource for staff. Responsibilities Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of the unit on the designated shift. Perform direct patient care as needed and function as a clinical resource to nurses and support staff. Assess, plan, evaluate, and document the nursing process of the unit. Facilitate identification and resolution of gaps in care from hospitalization to discharge and into ambulatory settings. Critically assess patient data and proactively mitigate impending changes; establish consults with interprofessional teams as appropriate. Lead the development and implementation of complex individual care plans with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team, patient, family, or caregiver. Utilize and champion evidence‑based practices, participate in journal club, facilitate practice change, conduct literature searches, and disseminate new knowledge. Explore opportunities to advance nursing practice through community events, education groups, advisory boards, adjunct faculty roles, or specialty organization leadership. Analyze gaps in practice standards, provide feedback to peers in collaboration with leadership, and enhance patient safety. Lead evaluation of patient and family experience and adjust care to improve satisfaction and quality. Operate in a constant state of alertness in a safety‑sensitive environment. Minimum Requirements Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate’s degree. Experience: 2–5 years of nursing experience; no supervisor experience required. License: Registered Nurse (RN) license.
