PACU Charge Nurse Team Lead - $36-58 per hour

BJC HealthCare is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) PACU – Post Anesthesia Care Lead for a nursing job in SaintLouis, Missouri. Job Overview Senior PACU lead position at Barnes‑Jewish Hospital, Washington University Medical Center, part of the Center for Advanced Medicine. The role is a safety‑sensitive position that requires constant alertness and high‑level patient care. Key scheduling and case volume details: 3/12 shift days 0900‑2130 (no weekends or holidays) 24 hours of call per six‑week schedule 40‑60 cases per day (eye, ORS, breast, flaps, vascular, gender‑affirming surgeries) Responsibilities Under the direction of a manager, plans, directs, and coordinates activities of the unit on a designated shift; performs direct patient care as needed and serves as a clinical resource to nursing and support staff. Facilitates identification and resolution of gaps in care from hospitalization, at discharge, and into the ambulatory care setting; critically assesses patient data to proactively mitigate impending changes in condition and establishes consults to the interprofessional team as appropriate. Leads the development and implementation of complex individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and the patient, family, or caregiver in accordance with established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Actively utilizes and champions scientific inquiry for evidence‑based practices (e.g., participates in journal club, facilitates practice change based on new knowledge, recommends new standards of care or revisions to current standards, conducts literature searches to support unit or organizational goals, and disseminates new knowledge obtained from conferences or continuing education). Explores opportunities to advance nursing practice (e.g., supports community health events, patient/family education groups, community advisory board, serves as adjunct faculty, participates in specialty organization leadership boards). Analyzes gaps in practice standards and provides feedback to peers in collaboration with leadership to enhance safe patient care. Leads evaluation of the patient and family experience and adjusts care to improve patient satisfaction and quality of care. Maintains constant state of alertness and performs all duties in a safe manner as required for a safety‑sensitive position. Requirements Minimum Requirements Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing. Experience: 2‑5 years of relevant clinical experience. Licenses & Certifications: Registered Nurse (RN). Supervisor Experience: None required. Preferred Requirements Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Experience: 5‑10 years of clinical experience.
