Legal Assistant - Employment Single Action

The Opportunity

Legal Assistants in our Employment Single Action (wrongful term, harassment, discrimination, etc.,) practice work closely with attorneys and partners in our Employment Single Action groups. We are looking for experienced assistants with proven experience managing and tracking a high volume of cases and ensuring deadlines and court dates are met. They also draft, finalize, and assemble notices and communicate case status to clients, with additional duties based on experience.

Accountable for

• Professionally communicate with clients, experts, courts, and defense counsel
• Prepare documents for filing in both state and federal courts
• Support our attorneys in all phases of litigation
• Assist in drafting pleadings and complaints
• Manage and calendar court deadlines
• Propound and respond to discovery
• Maintain organized case files
• Typing 40wpm

Qualifications

• At least three years of experience as a Legal Assistant focused on employment litigation.
• Working knowledge of employment law and state and federal filing
• Knowledge of e-Filing and California rules
• Ability to draft, edit, and finalize pleadings, motions, and other legal documents
• Trial preparation experience helpful
• Ability to act independently and in a team-based environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Meticulous attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
• Comfortable working in a paperless work environment
• Type at least 40 wpm

Compensation

• $25.00 - $40.00 per hour,depending on experience
