Organizational Context and Job Purpose INEOS is a global manufacturer of petrochemicals, specialty chemicals and oil products. It comprises 28 businesses each with a major chemical company heritage. Its production network spans 148 sites in 26 countries worldwide. The INEOS Olefins & Polymers USA business is a major participant in the North American chemical industry, with an annual manufacturing capacity of 9.6billion pounds of petrochemicals. Manufacturing sites include Chocolate Bayou Works (Alvin, TX), Battleground Manufacturing Complex (La Porte, TX) and Carson (Carson, CA), with a corporate office in League City, TX. The 300-acre INEOS Battleground Manufacturing Complex (BMC) was originally built in 1956 and is located on the Houston ship channel east of Houston, Texas. Currently, BMC produces both high-density polyethylene and polypropylene. The polypropylene line has a capacity of approximately 320million pounds per year, and the seven polyethylene lines have a combined capacity of approximately 3billion pounds per year. The BMC site has a state-of-the-art technical center which integrates research and development, technical services and quality assurance. Purpose of the Job This position is part of the Safety, Health and Environmental team at the BMC site. It focuses on workplace safety. The Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) works closely with site leadership and employees on medical and associated programs, providing care for workplace‑related injuries and illnesses. The OHN will support advancements in medical testing and procedures, ensuring all health and safety standards are met to safeguard employee well‑being. Responsibilities and Accountabilities Health Hazard Assessment and Surveillance Work under the medical direction of the designated licensed site Medical Director. Perform medical tests (pulmonary function, phlebotomy, cardiograms, audiograms, drug testing, equipment calibration, and log maintenance). Evaluate laboratory results for medical clearance with Medical Director approval for areas requiring medical surveillance programs. Screen new and prospective employees to ensure they are capable of their required duties. Assess and administer care for injuries and emergencies; handle all Return‑to‑Work releases, injuries and illnesses appropriately. Provide counseling on medical conditions relative to job requirements. Advise on disease prevention programs such as smoking cessation, exercise and healthy eating. Dispense medical supplies and maintain documentation. Administer vaccine shots (Flu, Hepatitis). Assist Human Resources in managing workers’ compensation and short‑term disability cases. Train and share feedback on medical responses to site ECAs, EMTs and EMS. Manage after‑hours injuries and return‑to‑work unless delegated. Ensure all required annual physical exams for employees are completed on time under the guidance of the Medical Director. Provide CPR/AED classes as required. Participate in cross‑site medical care program reviews and development (may require travel). Medical Administration Educate the workforce on health promotion, illness and injury prevention, and protection from occupational and environmental hazards. Ensure medical procedures and records meet regulatory requirements. Suggest procedural changes or other methods to enhance workplace safety. Accept after‑hours on‑call duties for injury care under the direction of the site Medical Director. Qualifications Experienced in occupational health with medical testing and record‑keeping. Knowledge of medical & document retention policies. Current familiarity with OSHA, Texas Department of Health, CDC, HIPAA, FMLA and DOT regulations.
