Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a knowledgeable and dependable Teaching Assistant (TA) to join our Companion Animals Program. The TA will support the lead instructor in delivering hands-on and classroom instruction across animal health, nutrition, behavior, grooming, and husbandry. The ideal candidate has direct experience handling diverse companion animalsincluding dogs, cats, rodents, reptiles, and fishand a passion for guiding students toward careers in the animal industry.

Reporting Structure:

The Teaching Assistant reports to the CTAE Coordinator.

Qualifications:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Bilingual preferred.
3. 25 years of field experience required.
4. Satisfactory SAFIS, CORI, and SORI background checks required.
5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent-Director may find appropriate and in conformity with state and federal law.

Duties:

1. Under supervision, assists the Teacher in the administration of instruction in traditional and non traditional settings;
2. Assist the Teacher in the preparation of lessons and other related learning materials;
3. Integrates the basic principles of child development to complement learning goals;
4. Redirects and adapts students who are observed having difficulties towards the appropriate classroom resources;
5. Builds formidable and educationally appropriate relationships with students;
6. Implements appropriate accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities;
7. Performs other duties as required and assumes such other responsibilities as the Coordinator or their Designee may assign.

Physical Working Conditions:

This position requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 30 pounds at times. The position may require in and out-of-district travel.

Terms and Conditions of Employment:

1. This is a 10-month position, 184 day position, with hours to be set by the Coordinator or designee.
2. Salary and fringe benefits are established by the Superintendent-Director in accordance with the policies established by the School Committee.
