Serving residents from Waimea to Waimānalo, KEY Project provides programs that strengthen food security, cultural connection, youth development, kūpuna wellness, and disaster resilience.
Position Summary The purpose of the Youth Program Coordinator is to support the mission of KEY Project through the continuous development of the Ho'opilina Youth Program, thus promoting culture, socialization, education, and the overall well-being of current and future program participants by fostering a sense of place and resilience. This position promotes youth programming through collaboration with team members and external partnerships, as well as participates in organizational programming and community service to further KEY's reach into its designated service area.
Duties and responsibilities
Working conditions This is a full time, non-exempt position with occasional evening and weekend availability required, as needed, in support of programming goals. The primary duties of this position are performed in office with periodic offsite functions.
Physical requirements This position requires sedentary work sitting at a desk, the ability to lift 25 pounds, walking and moving around the office and all facilities, including second floor/upstairs. Job duties also require working in outdoor environments with various terrain and conditions, both on and off campus. Compensation Starting Pay: $45K - $48K per year. Employment is contingent upon grant funding. Background Screening Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check. Duties and responsibilities
- Plans, coordinates, and directs consistently available activities for the youth program including but not limited to 'ohana engagement events, classes, workshops, 'āina/māla workdays, and educational outreach prescribed by various grants' scope of services, Executive Director, and/or community needs assessments.
- Designs, implements, and facilitates intersession programming during DOE school breaks to be conducted both on and off campus in collaboration with KEY community partners throughout the Ko'olau region. Transports youth between sites during intersession outings.
- Utilizes current, and implements new, modes of communication to effectively promote programming, recruit participants, and establish partnership connections to broaden the reach of Ho'opilina Youth Program, as well as organizational events, throughout the service area.
- Maintains up-to-date electronic calendars of programming schedules and accurate contact lists of youth, families, and program relevant organizations.
- Implements appropriate tools for data collection, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of program deliverables while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
- Documents all budget expenditures, performs all program-applicable fiscal procedures, and prepares reports as requested.
- Attends 'āina-based community workdays with aligned partner organizations to support partnership development, professional growth, and grounded integration of cultural concepts into KEY Project programming.
- Creates and develops new learning materials for KEY Project youth programming based on professional development opportunities, cultural workshops, trainings, personal expertise, and certifications, as needed for successful program delivery.
- Oversee staff, contractors, and volunteers in the delivery of services targeted at fulfilling the goals of the program and needs of the participants.
- Collaborates with KEY leadership in program evaluation of effectiveness and feasibility of scope of work performed throughout the year.
- Performs general administrative and clerical duties to include, but not limited to, photocopying, computer and manual filing, mail distribution, and general internal and external communications such as answering phones, emails, and assisting walk in clientele.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Education, Childhood Development or related disciplines,
- Minimum 3 years direct experience with school aged youth,
- Minimum 2 years experience with program and lesson development,
- Must have demonstrated knowledge of 'ike Hawai'i and proficiency in 'Ōlelo Hawai'i,
- Clean driving record,
- Office management and administrative experience, with proficiency in Google Applications, MS Office, email, and social media platforms,
- Excellent time management, planning, and problem solving skills,
- Proficiency with Google Suite and Canva
- Valid Hawai'i driver's license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance.
- 1 year supervisory experience that includes training and supervising staff.
- 1 year of budget management experience.
- Kuleana to cultural practice
- Event planning and coordination experience.
- Experience working with diverse, multicultural communities.
- Have general cultural knowledge of Waihe'e and surrounding ahupua'a.
- Valid CPR/First Aid Certification.
