Special Education Teacher in Destrehan, LA

This full-time, onsite opportunity places you at the heart of elementary education, working with a diverse student caseload to support varied learning needs. What we're seeking:

Valid Louisiana Special Education Educator Certificate (required)
Previous experience working with elementary-age students preferred
Adaptability and comfort in a range of special education settings
Strong communication and team collaboration skills
Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)

Key responsibilities:

Provide direct instruction and support to students with special needs in an onsite elementary school setting
Develop, update, and monitor IEPs in collaboration with staff and families
Employ a variety of teaching methods to address student strengths and needs
Track progress, maintain documentation, and participate in meetings and conferences as needed
Uphold a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment

As an integral part of the school community, you'll cultivate meaningful relationships and make a lasting difference for your students. This contract position runs from August 3, 2026, to May 26, 2027, with a consistent 35-hour work week. Candidates should bring flexibility and a commitment to supporting students wherever needed.
