Chief Advancement Officer

Chief Advancement Officer Kennedy Krieger Institute seeks an inaugural Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) to lead a bold transformation of its advancement enterprise, elevating the organization’s national visibility, philanthropic reach, and long‑term impact in service of Kennedy Krieger Institute’s mission: to improve the lives of children, youth, and adults with disorders of the developing nervous system through patient care, research, education, professional training, and community collaboration. As the highest‑level fundraising and communications leader, the CAO will partner directly with the President and Chief Executive Officer and other executive leadership and program teams to align philanthropy, brand, and institutional priorities. The role is highly visible, with direct responsibility for comprehensive capital campaigns, annual fundraising, and storytelling to diverse audiences. Key Responsibilities Shape and execute next‑generation philanthropic strategies that drive fundraising growth and expand the Institute’s impact. Build and lead a high‑performing, mission‑driven team across the Offices of Philanthropy and Marketing & Communications. Articulate a compelling case for support, foster a culture of philanthropy, and ensure all external engagement reflects the dignity, resilience, and potential of the individuals and families served. Align fundraising initiatives with the Institute’s core values of compassion, collaboration, innovation, and community. Collaborate with clinical, research, and program teams to embed philanthropy at the heart of institutional priorities. Qualifications Applicants should demonstrate extensive experience in nonprofit advancement, including leadership of large fundraising organizations, capital campaigns, and marketing/communications. A proven track record of achieving ambitious financial goals while building strong relationships with donors and stakeholders is essential. Compensation and Benefits Salary Range: $325,000 – $375,000 In compliance with the Maryland Pay Transparency Act, the wage range references the pay grade minimum and maximum full‑time annualized salary. The actual pay may depend on relevant experience, education, hours worked, and internal equity. Specific wage information will be discussed during the interview process.
