Director, Nuclear Operations

Job Summary We are looking for a Nuclear Station Leader responsible for the Operations department and all operational aspects at our nuclear facility, including licensed and non-licensed operator activities, operational support for maintenance activities, and the station’s chemistry control program. The position supports power generation goals and maintenance such as refueling outages at Vistra nuclear sites including Comanche Peak (Glen Rose, TX), Beaver Valley (Shippingport, PA), Davis‑Besse (Oak Harbor, OH), and Perry (Perry, OH). The role will be based at one of Vistra’s four nuclear sites. Key Accountabilities Maximize power generation and optimize station operational modes. Ensure the facility is operated safely, reliably, and efficiently in compliance with regulatory, administrative, and code standards. Maintain a sufficient number of trained and licensed personnel to operate the station in accordance with requirements. Support initiatives and goals for top decile performance compared with INPO/WANO metrics. Develop and monitor Operations Department budgets. Set departmental goals and objectives in support of the Station’s long‑range business plan, ensuring activities are completed within the approved budget. Education, Experience & Skill Requirements Current or previous SRO license or SRO certification. Eight years of power plant experience. Four years of supervisory/management experience. Knowledge of legal and personnel aspects of labor relations. Key Metrics & Competencies Technical competence. Teamwork. Problem solving and decision making. Results orientation.
