Freelance Writer, The Inertia

The Inertia, a leading online publication dedicated to surf and snow, is looking for high-energy, creative wordsmiths with a passion for surf and the outdoors to write news, personality driven features, lifestyle stories, and opinion pieces. Responsibilities Write publication-ready content from approved pitches, or as assigned. Create or coordinate supporting visuals (e.g., photographs) for pieces. Demonstrate subject matter expertise in several of the following categories: Surfing and surf-adjacent sports like foiling or paddling Snowsports Demonstrate a solid understanding of SEO principles and practices. Requirements Two-plus years of journalism or copywriting experience and a portfolio of published content including news and/or feature writing. Photography skills are a plus. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Familiarity with digital publishing tools and content management systems; WordPress experience preferred. Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines. Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects. Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, or related field (preferred). We will respond to high-quality candidates as quickly as possible.
