Step into a fulfilling contract opportunity supporting students with visual impairments near Fort Pierce, FL. You'll have the chance to make a significant impact across up to five schools within the district, working collaboratively with students, families, and educational staff. This position focuses on providing direct instruction and consultative services, empowering students to thrive in their educational journeys.
Key Qualifications:
- Holds a valid FL DOE certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Proficiency in teaching Braille is essential
- Previous experience supporting K-12 students with visual impairments preferred
- Ability to manage a dynamic caseload across multiple school sites
- Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
- Must complete district fingerprinting; prior fingerprints through the AHCA Clearinghouse may be transferable
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to 12 students (approximately 690 service minutes weekly)
- Provide consultative services for an additional two students
- Adapt curriculum materials and instructional strategies to support students’ unique needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and families
- Travel between up to five school sites as assigned within the district
- Contribute to Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and compliance documentation
- Remain current with best practices for teaching students with visual impairments
