Senior Accountant — Washington, DC (Hybrid) District Capital Partners ( is a Washington, DC-based M&A advisory firm serving private equity investors, their portfolio companies, and founder‑led businesses. Alongside our advisory practice, our principals make direct acquisitions of lower middle‑market companies through our affiliated investment vehicle, Sundance Partners. We're a senior‑led team of 25+ professionals executing deals for clients and on our own behalf. The Opportunity We're hiring a Senior Accountant to own our day‑to‑day accounting function at DCP and support the entities behind our direct investing activity. This is a hands‑on role with real breadth: you'll run AP/AR and client invoicing, own the general ledger and month‑end close, produce the monthly reporting package, and coordinate with tax advisors, among other responsibilities. You won't be a small cog in a big finance department. You'll be the accounting function, with the support, tools, and outside advisors to do it well, and a clear growth path toward Accounting Manager and Controller‑level responsibility as the firm scales. If you want direct exposure to M&A and private investing while building something, this is that seat. What You'll Own General ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and a consistent month‑end close Accounts payable and receivable, including client engagement invoicing and collections tracking Monthly financial reporting package (P&L, balance sheet, cash, AR/AP aging) for firm leadership Bookkeeping for Sundance Partners and its deal‑specific investment entities, including capital call and distribution support Expense reports, corporate cards, and payroll coordination with our third‑party provider Annual tax and compliance support in partnership with our outside CPA (returns, 1099s, registrations) Process improvement - documenting workflows and helping us adopt automation and AI‑enabled tools What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and 3–6 years of hands‑on accounting experience Ownership of month‑end close and strong command of U.S. GAAP QuickBooks (or comparable system) proficiency and strong Excel skills Meticulous attention to detail and discretion with confidential information A builder's mindset - comfortable creating process in a lean, entrepreneurial environment CPA (or CPA‑track), professional services or investment firm experience, and partnership/multi‑entity accounting exposure are all pluses Able to work from our Washington, DC office at least Monday through Wednesday each week Base salary: $95,000 – $115,000, commensurate with experience Discretionary annual performance bonus Health insurance, retirement plan, paid time off, and firm holidays Hybrid schedule (minimum three in‑office days: Monday - Wednesday) How to Apply Submit your resume and a brief note on your accounting experience and interest in the role.
