Job Summary

This Registered Nurse position is for a high-acuity, fast-paced 34-bed Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit specializing in acute stroke and complex telemetry patients in Elmira, New York. The unit is dedicated to delivering evidence-based, protocol-driven care with a strong emphasis on patient safety, rapid intervention, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, providing comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient population requiring continuous cardiac monitoring and specialized neurological assessments. This role involves managing patient admissions, discharges, and overall flow in a high-turnover setting, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform and document frequent neurological assessments, including the NIH Stroke Scale.
• Monitor and accurately interpret telemetry rhythms, responding promptly to changes in patient status.
• Ensure strict compliance with stroke core measures, including dysphagia screening, patient education, and individualized care plan development.
• Administer medications safely and accurately following Bar Code Medication Administration (BCMA) standards.
• Collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary team, including providers, therapists, and case management, to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
• Manage patient admissions, discharges, and overall patient flow efficiently within a high-turnover environment.
• Implement and maintain rigorous patient safety protocols, focusing on falls prevention, skin integrity, and overall patient well-being.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
• Minimum of Not specified years of recent experience in an acute care setting, preferably Medical-Surgical Telemetry or Stroke Unit.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
