About Cal Poly Pomona Pomona is one of three polytechnic universities in the 22-campusCalifornia State University system and among 12 such institutions nationwide. College of Business Administration Cal Poly Pomona's College of Business Administration, including the Singelyn Graduate School of Business, serves over 5,000 undergraduate and graduate students. All programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) - a distinction earned by only 6% of business schools worldwide. Notably, the college, along with three other CSU campuses, holds a separate AACSB accreditation for its accounting program, placing it among the elite 3% of institutions globally with both business and accounting accreditations. Recognized by U.S. News & WorldReport as one of the best undergraduate business programs, the college offers eight undergraduate options as part of the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree. In 2022, the Singelyn Graduate School of Business was established through a transformative gift from alumni David and Ruth Singelyn. Today, the graduate school offers a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and several specialized master's programs. The college is housed in a state-of-the-art, three-building complex, featuring modern classrooms, lecture halls, labs, conference rooms, student club spaces, and offices for more than 100 faculty and staff. Department of Computer Information Systems The CIS department provides students with the education to become Information Technology leaders. Our cutting-edge, career-focused programs and learn-by-doing teaching make our graduates recognized nationally for their outstanding Information Technology expertise, innovative problem-solving ability, and effective interpersonal and communication skills. The CIS Department is nationally known for the advancement and depth of its undergraduate curriculum. We serve over 900 undergraduate majors. Faculty members share a strong commitment to collegiality, collaboration, dedicated teaching, innovative scholarship, active participation in the shared governance of the department, and robust intellectual engagement with each other and our students. The department has a strong learn-by-doing philosophy and maintains a very competitive and up-to-date curriculum. The Position The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available. We welcome applications from individuals who are experienced and student-centered to teach in the following subject areas: Artificial Intelligence Business Intelligence Data Warehousing Operating Systems Cloud Infrastructure Information Security Telecommunication Networks Java Programming Python Programming Client-side or Server-side Web Development Responsibilities Teach assigned division courses in the department's curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load. Assignments may include day, evening, and/or weekend courses. Required Qualifications A Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related discipline in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline. Preferred Qualifications A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related discipline Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and ability to furnish evidence of strong teaching. Relevant industry work experience. Salary and Benefit Information Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Initial appointments are for one semester only. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. Most new appointees are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank and placed at the beginning of the range. Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $6,221 per month. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are: Lecturer A: $5,507 - $6,677 Lecturer B: $6,221 - $13,224 Lecturer C: $6,825 - $14,523 Lecturer D: $8,593 - $15,211 The CSU system offers a competitive total compensation benefits package for employees and qualifying dependents, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and tuition assistance.
