Overall Description The University of Washington Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology is seeking one (1) full‑time pathologist to join our Hematopathology Division on the School of Medicine’s clinician‑teacher pathway. Clinical responsibilities include reporting of morphology for lymph nodes, tissues, blood and marrow; flow cytometry (diagnostic and minimal residual disease testing); and, depending on the candidate’s interests, molecular diagnostic testing, hemoglobin electrophoresis and coagulation reporting. Educational duties involve teaching hematology/hematopathology to students, technologists, residents and fellows. Applicants are also expected to participate in laboratory administration, new test development, and develop a focused area of research or scholarly work. This is a full‑time, 12‑month service position (July1 – June30) with an anticipated start date of January1, 2024, though the start date is flexible. Responsibilities Report morphology of lymph nodes, tissues, blood, and marrow. Conduct flow cytometry for diagnostic and minimal residual disease testing. Perform molecular diagnostic testing, hemoglobin electrophoresis and coagulation reporting as appropriate. Teach hematology/hematopathology to students, technologists, residents and fellows. Participate in laboratory administration, including new test development. Develop a focused research or scholarly program. Commit to a 12‑month service period with one month of paid time off. Qualifications M.D. or D.O. (or foreign equivalent). Board‑eligible or certified in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology (American Board of Pathology). Board‑eligible or certified in Hematopathology; subspecialty expertise required. Eligible to obtain a medical license in Washington State. Foreign medical graduates must have completed all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) or equivalent. Eligible for University sponsorship for an H‑1B visa as described. Rank may be Assistant, Associate or Full Professor without tenure; salary commensurate with experience and academic rank. Benefits Salary ranges (per month) are: Assistant Professors $18,170–$21,807; Associate Professors $21,903–$25,696; Professors $26,023–$31,796. Salaries include base compensation through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan; compensation from UWP may provide eligibility for separate benefits. Faculty on 12‑month service periods receive 11 months of paid service over a 12‑month timeframe, providing one month of paid time off.
