Assistant Controller / Controller

Assistant Controller — $4Bn Private Equity Fund (NYC) Newly created Assistant Controller seat at a $4 billion private equity firm in New York. Reports to the Controller with significant exposure to senior leadership and the deal team. This is a broader mandate than a traditional fund accounting role, spanning investor relations support, treasury, valuations, and fund operations. Strong fit for someone who wants to build a well-rounded skill set across the full lifecycle of a private equity platform. Responsibilities Support quarterly and annual financial reporting for multiple fund vehicles and SPVs Partner with the IR team on capital calls, distributions, and LP reporting Manage treasury functions including wire approvals, cash forecasting, and bank relationships Coordinate quarterly valuation processes with the deal team and external valuation providers Oversee fund operations including expense allocations, management fee calculations, and waterfall reviews Liaise with auditors, tax advisors, and fund administrators Contribute to process improvement and system implementations as the platform scales Background 5 to 8 years of progressive experience across public accounting and a private equity or alternative asset management firm CPA preferred Strong technical foundation in fund accounting under US GAAP Direct exposure to one or more of the following: IR support, treasury, valuations, or fund operations Experience working across multiple fund structures and stakeholders Strong communicator who can interact comfortably with LPs, deal team members, auditors, and external service providers Comfort operating in a lean environment where the work is varied and the pace is real Compensation Compensation is competitive and includes base, bonus, and carry participation, targeting between 200-300k depending on experience.
