Senior AccountantAssist in the preparation of the consolidated 10-K and 10-Q, associated workpapers, other stand-alone financial statements and various other analyses in support of the Financial Reporting function at NRG.Participate in the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings such as Forms 10-Q and 10-K, including preparation of workpaper support for financial statements, footnotes, management discussion and analysis, and external auditor compliance checklistsAssist with the preparation of quarterly and annual stand-alone financial statementsUtilize financial reporting software to create, maintain and update reporting templates and data queriesActively research new and existing accounting guidance to ensure compliance with GAAP and SEC rules, including preparation of documentation for appropriate accounting and disclosure of complex business transactions and eventsSupport various aspects of the external audit, including managing audit requests to ensure compliance with financial reporting requirementsDocument internal control procedures and assist internal audit with periodic testing to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act and controls pertaining to financial reporting processAssist with special projects involving financial deliverables and ad hoc reporting, as neededPerform other duties as assignedOpen office environmentHybrid work schedule, 4 days in the office (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)Some overtime may be required to meet quarterly and annual reporting deadlinesBachelor's degree in accountingThree to five years of experience demonstrating a working knowledge of accounting and reporting principlesKnowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and SEC reporting rules and regulationsProficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel, and computer savvy with respect to general ledger and reporting softwarePublic accounting experience and CPA preferredKnowledge of SAP, HFM, and Wdesk preferredThree years of SEC reporting experienceEnergy industry experience preferredRobust writing and verbal communication skillsFlexible interpersonal styleSolid attention to details, with the capability to multi-task and meet tight deadlinesStrong analytic abilities
