The TL;DR Role: Internship Location: Hybrid – Cedar Rapids, IA Team: Accounting team within the Finance Group Mission: Contribute to meaningful accounting work and independently own recurring responsibilities within the Accounting team to support GreatAmerica’s financial operations and growth. Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel What You’ll Actually Do Account Reconciliation: Perform general ledger account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance. Month‑End Closing: Actively participate in the critical month‑end closing procedures. Audit Support: Assist the team with tasks related to the annual financial statement audit. Operational Reporting: Prepare and audit recurring operational reports. External Reporting: Prepare monthly reporting for various external customer programs. Strategic Participation: Contribute to Accounting team strategic initiatives. Customer Service: Provide an outstanding GreatAmerica experience to all customers. The Must-Haves Background: This role is for individuals currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Accounting, making it an Entry‑Level internship. Candidates are expected to have a strong foundational understanding of accounting principles, reflected by a minimum GPA of 3.25 in their studies. Experience: No prior professional work experience is required for this internship; however, previous internships or work experience within finance or accounting fields will be considered beneficial. Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in using Microsoft Excel for various accounting tasks and data management; a strong ability to focus on details and ensure accuracy in financial data and reports; excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective team collaboration and customer interactions; demonstrated initiative, a proactive approach to challenges, and a strong desire to continuously learn and develop accounting capabilities; and sound business judgment to navigate responsibilities effectively.
