Embark on a rewarding contract assignment as a Special Education Teacher supporting middle school students in a co-teaching, inclusive environment. Two passionate educators are needed to provide high-quality support to students with diverse learning needs throughout the 2024-2027 academic years. These full-time positions provide the opportunity to collaborate with a dynamic teaching team and positively shape the educational experience of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.

Key Qualifications

• Active GaPSC SPED Consultative P-12 Teaching Endorsement required
• Previous experience in co-teaching or inclusion settings is highly desirable
• Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload of approximately 10–12 students
• Familiarity with IEP development, progress monitoring, and behavior plans
• Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with general education staff
• Commitment to supporting students with Autism, OHI, SLD, MID, and EBD within a classroom setting
• Flexibility and adaptability in response to caseload changes

Responsibilities

• Co-teach Math and Science (6th grade) or ELA and Science (7th/8th grade) alongside general education teachers
• Create a positive, accommodating classroom environment aligned with student IEPs
• Provide targeted academic and behavioral interventions where needed
• Support students transitioning to new grade levels and routines
• Collaborate with families, paraprofessionals, and school staff to monitor students’ progress
• Attend and participate in New SPED Training, teacher pre-planning week, and regular staff meetings
• Ensure documentation and compliance with all special education regulations

Assignment Details

• Full-time hours (37.5–40/week), 7:45am–3:45pm, during the school year
• Assignment runs August 5, 2024 – May 21, 2027
• New SPED Teacher Training on July 29; Pre-planning July 31–August 4
• No toileting or diapering required
