Step into a rewarding contract role shaping young minds as a Special Education Teacher in a dynamic, inclusive middle school setting. Two full-time positions are available, providing dedicated support within co-teaching environments in Math/Science and ELA/Science. Work alongside talented colleagues to ensure students with special needs successfully transition into new academic challenges and thrive throughout the school year.
Key Qualifications:
- Must hold an active GaPSC Special Education Consultative P-12 Teaching Endorsement
- Experience in co-taught/inclusion settings preferred
- Strong commitment to supporting students with Autism, OHI, SLD, MID, and EBD
- Ability to implement and follow individualized behavior plans
- Dedicated to fostering a positive, accommodating classroom for diverse learners
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with general education teachers to deliver inclusive instruction in Math and Science for 6th grade, or ELA and Science for 7th/8th grade
- Manage a caseload of approximately 10-12 students, adapting support as needed based on enrollment
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as necessary
- Proactively address behavioral needs within the co-teaching model (no toileting/diapering required)
- Participate in new SPED training (July 29), pre-planning days (July 31-August 4), and adhere to the full academic schedule (August 5-May 21)
