Legal Assistant

Lucosky Brookman LLP

Lucosky Brookman is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support its growing Insurance Defense practice. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three (3) years of Legal Assistance experience and possess strong organizational, administrative, and case management skills. This individual will work closely with attorneys and clients to ensure the efficient handling of litigation matters from inception through resolution. This position offers the opportunity to join a collaborative, fast-paced law firm environment and play a critical role in supporting attorneys who represent insurers, businesses, and professionals in complex litigation matters. Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive administrative and litigation support to Insurance Defense attorneys. Prepare, revise, format, proofread, and file legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, correspondence, and court filings. Manage attorney calendars, schedule hearings, depositions, mediations, meetings, and client communications. Coordinate electronic filing (e‑filing) in state and federal courts and ensure compliance with court rules and deadlines. Maintain and monitor litigation calendars and docket deadlines. Organize and maintain electronic and physical case files. Assist with discovery management, including document production, medical records, and expert materials. Coordinate service of process and communication with courts, opposing counsel, clients, experts, and vendors. Prepare trial, arbitration, mediation, and deposition materials. Enter attorney time and assist with billing-related administrative tasks as needed. Support attorneys with client reporting and case status updates. Perform additional administrative and legal support duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of legal assistant experience Strong knowledge of litigation procedures, court rules, and filing requirements in state and federal courts. Experience managing multiple attorney calendars and litigation deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with legal document management systems and e‑filing platforms. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail, organizational abilities, and follow-through. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Professional demeanor and strong client service orientation. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting multiple attorneys within an insurance defense practice. Familiarity with litigation management and billing systems. Experience preparing trial, mediation, and arbitration materials. Knowledge of New Jersey and New York court filing procedures.
