Bayside Health was formed following the merger of Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health Service and Peninsula Health on 1 January 2026. Position We are seeking motivated psychiatric registered nurses who are looking for the opportunity to work across various of our bed-based services, including our acute psychiatric unit based at the Alfred site. Flexibility and availability for shifts across the different settings will be highly valued. Nurses will be employed within the Nurse Pool of The Alfred, and will work either in the Acute In-Patient Psychiatric Unit (based at The Alfred Hospital) and the Residential Rehabilitation (Community Care Unit located in St Kilda) or may from time to time provide psychiatric nursing specialists to patients admitted to the medical/surgical wards of The Alfred. This is a direct patient care role involving risk assessment, mental state assessment, and care planning, as well as consultation, liaison and negotiation with patients, carers, family members, and other professionals. The single most important goal of Alfred Psychiatry is to create an environment that facilitates clinical recovery, supports individual recovery efforts and strives to minimise service system barriers to the recovery process. Responsibilities Provide direct patient care across bed-based services, including the Acute In-Patient Psychiatric Unit and Residential Rehabilitation, and support other wards as required. Perform risk assessment, mental state assessment and care planning; participate in consultation, liaison and negotiation with patients, carers, families and other professionals. Contribute to an environment that facilitates clinical recovery and reduces barriers to recovery. May be required to work across Bayside Health (Alfred) sites (Alfred Hospital, Caulfield Hospital and Sandringham Hospital).
