About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: Minimum 1 year required License: Valid RN License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Travel experience preferred - Must float to other Medical Surgical units - Must be willing to work with a variety of staff Description: Holiday coverage is required. Any requested time off during holidays must remain flexible to accommodate staffing demands. Candidates with travel experience are highly preferred. Candidates may be considered without travel experience if they have significant permanent experience. The unit will have a focus on constant reassessment of patient readiness for discharge. This unit will be rapidly admitting and discharging patients. The staff will work a mix of medical patients. The staffing ratio is generally 1:5-6 for nights. Ratios may flex to 8 patients, but the RN will be paired with LPNs for support. There is a variety of staff working on this unit including RNs, LPNs, and techs. The candidates will be expected to have previous experience in charge roles. The patient age groups will include adults and geriatrics. The daily census is typically around 12 patients. The job requires great prioritization skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to manage high patient turnover. Candidates must be prepared to handle patient surges and increased patient ratios. Floating to other medical/surgical areas is required. The unit will have interdisciplinary support available. Candidates should have experience with specific medical procedures as outlined in the qualifications. Meeting the expectations for patient throughput while ensuring a positive patient experience is essential.
