Academic Coach - Accessibility Resources for Students

Job Description: The Accessibility Resources for Students (ARS) office is seeking an academic coach to provide guidance and learning strategies for the academic success of students with disabilities. In this role, the Academic Coach provides holistic advising for students’ academic performance and achievement. The academic coach will support a caseload of students desiring to maximize their learning, organizational skills, time management and more. The primary focus is to develop a working partnership with individual students to identify barriers to success, formulate plans to address the barriers, and equip students with the necessary skills and strategies for long-term academic success. Duties and Responsibilities: Conducts academic coaching through individual sessions that help students identify barriers to academic success while developing and implementing learning strategies skills specific to their needs and goals. Assists students with disabilities in developing executive functioning skills including; procrastination, organization, time management, self-advocacy, and motivational skills. Guides students in navigating Berklee and Accessibility Resources processes. Advises students on alternative format and assistive technologies. Tracks progress of students on their caseload through check-in’s, scheduled meetings, and email communications. Maintains accurate and confidential student records within the Accessibility Information Management system (AIM) student database including student information, notes, and communication. Collaborates and connects students to a variety of on-campus success resources such as Student Success Advising, Student Wellness Promotion and Services, and Student Success Programming, etc. Develops program initiatives and resources for entering students with disabilities to help facilitate navigating and accessing the Berklee curriculum and resources. Advises coaching groups some evenings, along with mid-day drop-in hours. Collaborates and engages with other academic coaching focus areas at Berklee to ensure a holistic coaching experience for students. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required; current enrollment in a graduate-level program (Master’s, graduate certificate, or post-baccalaureate) in higher education, student affairs, counseling, music, or a related field is highly preferred. Strong understanding of and sensitivity to the unique barriers and accessibility issues faced by students with disabilities in a higher education setting. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, and staff. Prior experience tutoring, coaching, or mentoring students (specifically those with learning differences, ADHD, autism, or executive functioning challenges) is a plus. A genuine enthusiasm for student mentorship and a strong commitment to supporting student success. Some nights and weekends may be required. PAY/BENEFITS: $25.00/hour. Maximum hours are 20 per week. This is a temporary, part-time, non-benefits eligible position.
