Analyst II

California Correctional Health Care Services

This position is eligible to telework up to one (1) day a week, in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. This is subject to change based on operational need and/or future return to office orders. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

Under the direction of the Supervisor l, the Analyst II independently performs the more varied and complex analytical insurance and workers compensation claims activities in conjunction with Department of General Services(DGS) offices, California Department of Social Services (CDSS), State departments and counties of California and third party claims administrators(TPA) in managing insurance procurement, consulting, worker's compensation claims and provides contracted services to the CDSS in performing oversight, coordination and management of the delivery of workers compensation benefits for CDSS' In-Home Supportive Services, CalWorks and CalFresh programs.


This position is Limited Term (12 months); it may become permanent, be extended up to 24 months, or be cancelled at any time.

This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code. The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests. The appointee is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment and once per year.

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship by the start date of employment. The Department of General Services does not participate in E-Verify for employment authorization purposes.

Statement of Qualifications

1. Describe your experience analyzing and evaluating workers' compensation claims, including how you have assessed claims handling activities, reserves, medical components, and compliance with policies or regulations. Provide a specific example of an analysis you conducted and the outcome of your recommendations.

2. Explain a situation in which you collaborated with internal or external stakeholders-such as third-party administrators, departmental staff, medical providers, or legal counsel-to resolve a workers' compensation issue. How did you ensure effective communication, and what was the result of your involvement?

3. Describe your experience reviewing, interpreting insurance requirements, coverage, and insurance policies. Provide specific examples.
