ECMO Specialist

Role Overview: The ECMO Specialist manages the daily operation of the ECMO program, ensuring optimal functioning of ECMO circuits and related equipment. They monitor, troubleshoot, and perform quality control to maintain circuit integrity and patient safety. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with bedside nurses to ensure patient stability, administer blood products and medications accurately, and manage ECMO parameters. They may oversee CRRT when connected in-line and support physical/occupational therapy. The specialist handles technical tasks efficiently, anticipates crises, and maintains preventive maintenance and quality assurance protocols. Qualifications & Skills: Requires a graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy or Nursing program with current licensure, and at least 2 years ICU experience. Preferred candidates have ECMO-specific training and experience. Certifications include BLS, PALS, ACLS, and licensure as RRT or RN.
