We’re looking for a Senior Communications Manager to lead communications for our AI, developer, and ecosystem initiatives at a pivotal moment in 1Password’s evolution.

1Password is redefining identity security for a world where access is no longer human-only or confined to login. Employees, AI agents, and machine workloads all act using credentials across SaaS, endpoints, and developer workflows. In this role, you will help tell how 1Password is the platform that secures access across human, agent, and machine identities through continuous authorization and runtime control.

You will own and drive programs spanning developer awareness, AI thought leadership, and ecosystem partnerships, working closely with executive spokespeople, product, partnerships, and marketing teams. This role requires both strategic thinking and hands-on execution, with the opportunity to build a program from the ground up and directly influence how 1Password is perceived in one of the most important shifts in security.

This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US, reporting to the Director of Communications.

What we're looking for:

• Developer and technical audience expertise: Experience communicating with builders, developers, DevSecOps, and technical audiences. You understand how builders and developers evaluate tools and engage with content.

• AI and emerging technology fluency: Strong understanding of the AI landscape and its intersection with identity, security, and developer workflows.

• Strategic communications mindset: Proven ability to build and execute communications programs that align with business priorities and drive measurable impact.

• Ecosystem and partnership storytelling: Experience supporting or leading communications for partnerships (ex., cloud providers, platforms, integrations).

• Media relations and storytelling: Strong track record of crafting compelling story angles and successfully pitching and placing coverage with top-tier media across developer, AI, and technology press.

• Exceptional storytelling and writing: Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling narratives across formats.

• Executive and technical spokesperson support: Experience working with both executive and technical spokespeople (ex, CTO, DevRel, engineers).

• Cross-functional collaboration: Experience partnering with product, engineering, developer relations, partnerships, and marketing teams.

• Proactive and resourceful: A self-starter who actively seeks out stories, opportunities, and moments to engage. Thrives in a fast-paced environment and doesn’t wait for direction to make an impact.

• Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in communications, PR, or marketing, ideally in B2B tech; cybersecurity, AI, or developer-focused experience strongly preferred

  • Experience building communications programs in fast-moving or emerging technology categories

  • Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional projects with a high degree of ownership and accountability

  • Strong understanding of how communications supports broader business, brand, and go-to-market goals

  • Experience working across teams such as product marketing, social, content, partnerships, and developer relations

  • Established network across relevant media, industry influencers and event organizers

  • Experience in high-growth or remote-first environments is a plus

What you can expect:

• Own AI and developer communications programs: Build and scale awareness of 1Password within developer and AI communities through media, content, and speaking. Support the development and execution of AI-focused narratives alongside executive spokespeople.

• Drive developer awareness and engagement: Partner with DevRel and product teams to create and amplify technically credible content and storytelling.

• Activate ecosystem and technology partnerships: Own communications for key partnerships, including launches and ongoing storytelling.

• Rapid response: Ensure 1Password is part of timely conversations across AI and developer media.

• Drive social media engagement in technical security conversations: Partner with social, DevRel, and security teams to triage and shape responses to high-value technical conversations, ensuring alignment to our narratives and rapid response PR opportunities.

• Support speaking and industry presence: Drive strategy and execution for developer and AI-focused speaking opportunities and events.

• Cross-functional collaboration: Partner across product, partnerships, marketing, and communications teams to deliver integrated programs.

• Measurement and optimization: Track performance, identify insights, and refine strategy to improve impact over time.

USA-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $137,000 USD and $199,000 USD, plus immediate participation in 1Password's benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.

Canada-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $113,000 CAD and $151,500 CAD, plus immediate participation in 1Password’s generous benefits program (health, dental, RRSP and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.
