Make a meaningful difference in the educational journey of young students by supporting early childhood and elementary learners in an intensive skills setting. This full-time contract opportunity runs through late May and focuses on delivering specialized instruction in a supportive, onsite environment for a highly-engaged classroom.
You will work closely with colleagues and support staff to create a safe, structured, and nurturing educational experience for students with autism and other developmental needs. Your expertise, compassion, and dedication will help these students grow both academically and personally.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Active Kansas Special Education (SPED) Teaching License required
- Previous experience supporting early childhood or elementary students, especially in an intensive needs or autism classroom, is highly valued
- Strong classroom management skills and a commitment to creating inclusive, positive learning environments
- Ability to collaborate effectively with other educators, therapists, and families
- Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and group instruction for students in accordance with their IEPs
- Develop and adapt curriculum and instructional materials to meet diverse learning needs
- Collaborate in multidisciplinary teams to support students’ educational, behavioral, and social-emotional growth
- Track student progress, maintain accurate records, and communicate regularly with caregivers
- Foster engagement and independence, ensuring all students feel valued and included
