We are building a strong founding team for our new South Lakeland studio and are looking for a leader who brings energy, consistency, care, and CHEER to every interaction. This is not only a teaching role. The Fitness Manager helps build the instructor team, establish a great member experience, and create the culture that will carry the studio from presale through opening and beyond. The Role As Fitness Manager, you will lead the fitness side of the studio. You will teach classes, recruit and coach instructors, manage the class schedule, uphold BODYBAR standards, and work closely with the owner and Studio Manager to grow a connected local community. You should be excited to help build something from the ground up. The right person enjoys both the studio floor and the leadership work behind it: coaching people, giving clear feedback, solving problems, and following through. What You’ll Do Teach approximately 10 to 15 BODYBAR Pilates classes per week with energy, safety, and consistency. Recruit, onboard, coach, and retain a strong instructor team. Build and manage the instructor and class schedules based on member demand, instructor availability, and studio performance. Observe classes, give useful feedback, and maintain consistent BODYBAR programming and member experience standards. Help lead presale and opening activities, including community events, local partnerships, prospect outreach, and member engagement. Create a welcoming, service-focused studio environment before, during, and after class. Work with studio leadership to review key performance indicators, member feedback, instructor performance, and schedule utilization. Keep equipment, training records, and studio readiness organized; identify maintenance needs and coordinate follow-up. Be present in the community and help turn local relationships into long-term members. Support the team through clear communication, accountability, and a positive, professional culture. What We’re Looking For At least 5 years of fitness-industry experience, including 2 years in a leadership, management, or instructor-development role. One or more of the following: degree in Exercise Science or related field, accredited personal-training or group-fitness certification, or 500-hour Pilates certification. Experience coaching or mentoring instructors and giving direct, constructive feedback. Strong organization, follow-through, and comfort using Google Workspace and new technology. Excellent communication skills and a genuine ability to connect with members, instructors, and community partners. A service-first, team-oriented leadership style. Availability for a flexible schedule that includes early mornings, evenings, and weekends as studio needs require. Willingness to complete required BODYBAR training and teach the BODYBAR Method. CPR/AED certification, or willingness to obtain it before teaching responsibilities begin. You May Be a Great Fit If You Want to lead a team, not just teach classes.
