Lead Practice Assistant

Unlike many large firms, you'll support a manageable attorney population of approximately six attorneys while helping lead a team of roughly ten assistants. The position offers significant exposure to operations, staffing, performance management, and hiring, with mentorship and training available for candidates who bring strong legal support experience but are newer to formal supervision. You'll work closely with leadership that encourages collaboration, thoughtful decision-making, and professional growth, while maintaining meaningful day-to-day involvement with attorneys and client service.

Position Overview:

This is a 50/50 hybrid role combining high-level legal support responsibilities with team leadership. The ideal candidate is exceptionally organized, confident, approachable, and capable of balancing strong working relationships with accountability and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and support a team of about ten
\n
• Coordinate daily workflow, coverage planning, and resource allocation
\n
• Review and approve leave requests and timecards
\n
• Assist with coaching, performance feedback, and staff development
\n
• Participate in hiring activities, including first-round interviews
\n
• Train, mentor, and support Practice Assistants
\n
• Provide high-level administrative support to assigned attorneys
\n
• Manage calendars, travel arrangements, client communications, billing, and document production
\n
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and team efficiency
\n
• Partner closely with a fellow Team Lead to ensure seamless team coverage
\n

Qualifications:

\n
• 5+ years of legal administrative, executive assistant, or practice assistant experience
\n
• Strong organizational, communication, and prioritization skills
\n
• Ability to manage competing demands in a fast-paced professional environment
\n
• Prior supervisory or team lead experience is a plus, but not required
\n
• Experience in a law firm or professional services environment preferred
\n
• Sound judgment, discretion, and a strong client-service orientation
