Buyer, Retail

Summary Statement:

The Retail Buyer is responsible for executing the strategic buying and merchandising plans across multiple retail categories and stores within a luxury resort hotel environment. This role owns the end to end buying process from category strategy, assortment planning, product selection, vendor negotiations, and open to buy management through inventory productivity and seasonal execution. The ideal candidate creates a work environment that supports our core values and promotes integrity, teamwork, performance, recognition, mutual respect, and employee satisfaction. All responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with all laws and regulations, as well as Resorts World Las Vegas policies, practices, and procedures.

Primary Job Duties: - Includes, but is not limited to:

• Create assortment plans by category, store location, season, price point, brand, SKU and inventory depth, ensuring the right product is in the right location at the right time.
• Identify and introduce new brands, products, and emerging trends that strengthen the property's competitive position and enhance the overall luxury retail offering.
• Build and manage strategic vendor relationships, negotiating costs, margins, payment terms, freight, allowances, exclusives, returns, markdown support, and other business terms to maximize profitability.
• Manage the open-to-buy process, ensuring appropriate inventory levels, seasonal launches, and timely product replenishment.
• Analyze merchandise reports with the ability to interpret complex data sets and make data driven decisions.
• Attend market and vendor meetings, trade shows, and other vendor engagements as required.
• Prepare quarterly presentations on upcoming buys and proposed budgets to meet department goals.
• Creation of product codes/SKU maintenance as needed.
• Collaborate with cross functional teams including Operations, Inventory Control, Marketing, Sponsorship, and Finance to align buying strategies with sales forecasts and property campaigns.
• Use personal device/cellular phone for job related operational tasks, job duties, review of company documents, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: - Includes, but is not limited to:

• Advanced proficiency in Excel including ability to analyze large data sets, utilizing formulas, Pivot tables, and another analytical tools.
• Experience managing categories such as general merchandise, travel, gifts, handbags, accessories, sunglasses, fashion and logo apparel.
• Deep understanding of market dynamics, consumer trends, and the retail landscape.
• Strong negotiation skills and experience managing multiple supplier relationships.
• Strong leadership capabilities with an emphasis on team collaboration and development.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Passion for retail and a keen eye for emerging trends.
• Ability to obtain and maintain full knowledge and understanding of company and department rules and regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Professional appearance consistent with company grooming, dress and uniform policies.
• Ability to effectively communicate in English.
• Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Preferred:

• Previous experience in Fashion Buying, Procurement or Planning.
• Advanced degree in business, preferably with a concentration in retail merchandising and management.
• Working knowledge of Red Rock Procurement System or similar retail system.
• Previous experience working in a large, luxury resort setting.

Minimum Education and Experience:

• At least 21 years of age
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in retail buying, merchandising, or related field.

Certificates, Licenses, Regulations:

• Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
