Salary: $75,000-$90,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications

Schedule: Primarily day shift, with flexibility to support other shifts and urgent needs

About the Role

Our client, a growing transformer manufacturer, is seeking a hands-on Safety Supervisor to lead workplace safety at its Raeford, North Carolina facility. This role will partner closely with operations, engineering, maintenance, quality, and human resources to build a strong safety culture and ensure that employees go home safely every day.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable on the production floor and managing the systems behind the program. This person will identify and control risk, develop practical procedures, deliver engaging training, investigate incidents, and hold leaders and employees accountable to consistent safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead and continuously improve the site's safety program in alignment with federal OSHA, North Carolina OSH, and company requirements.
2. Maintain a visible daily presence on the production floor; identify hazards, coach safe behaviors, and follow corrective actions through closure.
3. Develop, implement, and maintain programs for lockout/tagout, machine guarding, electrical safety and NFPA 70E, hazard communication, PPE, powered industrial trucks, cranes and hoists, confined spaces, hot work, fall protection, ergonomics, and contractor safety.
4. Complete job hazard analyses, risk assessments, and pre-startup safety reviews for new equipment, processes, and facility changes.
5. Lead incident, injury, near-miss, and property-damage investigations using root-cause analysis; assign and verify effective corrective actions.
6. Maintain required safety records, including OSHA 300/301 documentation, training records, inspection findings, and corrective-action tracking.
7. Coordinate new-hire safety orientation, recurring training, toolbox talks, emergency drills, and supervisor safety development across all shifts.
8. Partner with HR and site leadership on injury management, return-to-work coordination, workers' compensation support, and regulatory reporting.
9. Establish and report leading and lagging safety metrics, identify trends, and present clear action plans to site leadership.
10. Support emergency preparedness, including evacuation, fire, severe-weather, first-aid, and spill-response planning and drills.
11. Participate in regulatory visits, customer audits, and internal inspections; ensure timely, documented closure of findings.
12. Support environmental compliance activities and hazardous-waste controls as assigned.
13. Exercise stop-work authority when an imminent hazard or serious unsafe condition exists.

Required Qualifications

1. Three or more years of progressive safety experience in manufacturing, industrial operations, utilities, or a comparable high-hazard environment.
2. Demonstrated ownership of core OSHA general-industry programs and experience conducting workplace inspections and risk assessments.
3. Working knowledge of 29 CFR 1910 requirements, OSHA recordkeeping, incident investigation, and corrective-action management.
4. Ability to influence employees and leaders at all levels, including the confidence to stop work when conditions are unsafe.
5. Strong written, verbal, facilitation, and documentation skills.
6. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic systems used for training, inspections, metrics, and corrective actions.
7. Ability to work on-site in Raeford and flex hours occasionally to support multiple shifts, incidents, training, or audits.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
2. One or more years of safety leadership, lead, or supervisory experience.
3. Experience in transformer, electrical equipment, metal fabrication, heavy manufacturing, or a start-up/greenfield facility.
4. OSHA 30-Hour General Industry, First Aid/CPR/AED, or train-the-trainer credentials.
5. ASP, CSP, OHST, GSP, or other recognized safety credential.
6. Working knowledge of NFPA 70E, arc-flash controls, electrical test areas, industrial automation, robotics, and high-voltage environments.
7. Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

1. Frequent walking and standing in an active manufacturing facility.
2. Ability to access production areas, observe work practices, and wear required personal protective equipment.
3. Occasional lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 25 pounds.
4. Exposure to industrial noise, moving equipment, electrical hazards, and varying temperatures, with required controls and PPE in place.
