Stepdown Nurse (RN) - Cornelius, NC

This contract opportunity focuses on an innovative 12-bed PCU unit that serves adults with varied medical needs including CHF, COPD, GI bleeds, DKA, sepsis, dialysis, and diabetic management, among others. As a registered nurse in this new and growing department, your professional expertise and willingness to support multiple facilities across the region will be highly valued.


Schedule:

• 12-hour shifts: 7:00am-7:00pm or 7:00pm-7:00am
• Self-scheduling over a 6-week cycle (manager approval required)
• Minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week cycle (could flex based on staffing needs)
• Required to work 75% of contract holidays
• No on-call shifts

Key Qualifications:

• Active RN license with a minimum of 2 years' recent PCU experience
• First-time travelers welcomed if you have more than 5 years' PCU background
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Solid ability in IV starts, wound care (including wound vacs/drains), central line maintenance, NG tube insertion, tube feeding, PCA and kangaroo pumps, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Experience titrating critical drips: Cardizem, amiodarone, nitro, heparin, insulin (with Endotool)
• Must be comfortable performing your own lab draws
• Familiarity with EPIC EMR and Omnicell system required

Role Responsibilities:

• Care for adults in a fast-paced PCU setting, maintaining a 1:4 nurse-patient ratio
• Manage a full spectrum of medical diagnoses typical to a PCU
• Collaborate with a supportive team structure, including CNAs and free-floating charge nurse
• Float within your scope to additional regional facilities as needed
• Uphold high standards within evolving unit practices-adaptability is essential
