GRSS Treasury - Staff Accountant
$30 - $36 per hourRoman Catholic Archdiocese of New York
The Archdiocese of New York has structured 48 of its elementary schools into a Global Regional School System (GRSS), with nine geographic school districts. Each one has a local, centralized business office that supports 3-11 schools. The entire GRSS is supported by the Global Regional School System Operations, which is responsible for the collection, processing, recording, transfer, outflow and reporting of all funds within the regional school system. GRSS Operations is the conduit for all financial reporting. GRSS Operations will collect, process, and record data in order to provide a clear financial picture of each region/school.
The Staff Accountant assists the Global Regional School System Treasury team. The Staff Accountant is responsible for recording journal entries, tracking grants, and monitoring specific GL accounts as assigned.
Reports To: GRSS Controller
Work Location: 488 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10022
- Record journal entries for deposits, wire transfers and payments within the GRSS.
- Track, invoice and record all activity related to After School and Special Education Grants.
- Monitor and record activity related to outstanding receivables sent to collections.
- Monitor and record activity related to school level shared services.
- Record journal entries as assigned.
- Assist in year-end audit by preparing schedules and provide supporting documentation as needed.
- Other related duties and projects as required by management
Required Education, Experience and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- At least 1 year of relevant experience in accounting or auditing, preferably in the non-profit or education
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail with strong time management and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, results-oriented, web-based environment
Compensation range for this position is: $30.00 - $36.00 per hour.
This position is considered full-time, non-exempt, and eligible for overtime.
