Accountant

The Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities is seeking an Accountant that is responsible for reviewing and processing invoices, ensuring invoice payments have been made, communicating with vendors and delegate agencies about orders, invoices, and check payments, monitoring the department's expense accounts in comparison to the budget, providing expense and payroll reports with our department and to other city departments upon request, and reviewing applications and agreements as needed.

Essential duties include coding, recording, and updating journal entries; auditing financial documents; monitoring account balances; preparing various reports; analyzing historical records and forecasting future expenses and revenues; participating in the compilation and analysis of fiscal data; processing payments; calculating and preparing grant/project revenue collection reimbursement; reviewing grant/project applications and awards; examining sub-grant agreements; reviewing departmental requests for appropriating funds; authorizing grant/project obligations; monitoring and reporting grant/project expenditures; recording receivables and collections; closing out grant/project awards; coordinating and submitting final close-out reports to various grantors; and maintaining and reporting in-kind awards and expenditures incurred by the sub-grantees.

Location: 2102 W Ogden, Chicago, IL. Days: Monday-Friday. Hours: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This position is in the career service.

Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting or a directly related field, plus 15 semester hours in Accounting. You must provide your transcripts or diploma/degree at time of processing, if applicable.
