Registered Nurse – Cardiac Stepdown

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to an adult and geriatric population on a cardiac stepdown/overflow IMCU unit with a 1:5–6 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Manage and monitor continuous IV cardiac drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, and Nitroglycerin, as well as diuretics, anticoagulants, and insulin drips
• Perform arrhythmia management and cardioversion support for patients presenting with stable A-Fib, SVT, bradycardia, and other cardiac arrhythmias
• Care for patients with cardiac conditions including CHF, chest pain, post-cardiac cath, and TR Band management, as well as renal, pulmonary (COPD, pulmonary edema, PE, DVT), surgical, and DKA cases
• Utilize TR Bands and apply broad Med-Surg nursing skills including basic arrhythmia knowledge; float within the facility within scope of practice as needed
• Document accurately using unit electronic health record and medication dispensing systems; communicate effectively using SBAR methodology

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in Georgia or a Compact state required at time of submission
• Minimum of 2 years of Registered Nurse experience; first-time travelers will not be accepted
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Demonstrated experience managing continuous IV cardiac medications (cardiac drips, anticoagulants, insulin drips, and diuretics)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Ability to work every other weekend and required major holidays per assignment schedule

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with Epic electronic health record system
• Familiarity with Pyxis medication dispensing
• Background in overflow IMCU or step-down environments managing a diverse patient population
