Pre-Litigation Attorney

We are seeking an experienced Senior Pre‑Litigation Attorney to join a growing plaintiff‑side personal injury practice. This attorney will independently manage a high‑value personal injury caseload from intake through settlement , with a strong emphasis on pre‑litigation strategy, liability analysis, damages evaluation, and settlement negotiations. Pre‑litigation experience is a mandatory requirement for this position. The ideal candidate will have extensive plaintiff personal injury experience, a proven record of negotiating significant settlements, and the ability to mentor junior attorneys and legal staff. Key Responsibilities Pre‑Litigation Case Management Independently manage complex, high‑value plaintiff personal injury cases from intake through settlement. Develop case strategy based on liability, damages, insurance coverage, and overall case value. Review and analyze medical records, treatment history, future medical needs, and damages. Evaluate liability and identify potential coverage issues. Prepare cases for settlement and determine when litigation is appropriate. Ensure compliance with statutes of limitations and other applicable deadlines. Settlement & Negotiations Negotiate directly with insurance carriers, adjusters, and defense counsel. Maximize settlement value through effective negotiation strategies. Participate in mediations and settlement conferences as appropriate. Handle complex and high‑value claims through resolution. Client Representation Serve as the primary legal advisor to clients throughout the pre‑litigation process. Maintain consistent communication regarding case strategy, progress, and settlement options. Counsel clients regarding settlement recommendations and expected outcomes. Build strong, professional client relationships. Mentor junior attorneys and provide guidance to case managers, paralegals, and legal support staff. Review work product for quality, accuracy, and compliance. Assist with attorney training and development. Promote accountability, collaboration, and best practices within the pre‑litigation department. Required Qualifications Active California Bar license in good standing. 8+ years of plaintiff‑side personal injury experience. 8+ years of substantial pre‑litigation personal injury experience — REQUIRED. Proven ability to independently manage high‑value personal injury cases from intake through settlement. Demonstrated success negotiating substantial personal injury settlements. Strong knowledge of California personal injury law, insurance coverage, liability, and damages. Excellent negotiation, legal analysis, communication, and client‑management skills. Prior experience mentoring or supervising attorneys and/or legal support staff. Ability to manage a high‑volume caseload in a fast‑paced plaintiff personal injury environment. Preferred Qualifications Catastrophic injury experience. Premises liability experience. Experience handling complex and high‑value personal injury claims.
