Job Title: Staff Accountant

Job Description

The Staff Accountant will support month-end close, inventory accounting, financial reporting, and distribution center accounting activities for a high-volume retail environment. This role is responsible for preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, analyzing inventory and financial variances, and partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and operational support.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close deliverables.
• Analyze inventory transactions, adjustments, shrink, and variance reporting.
• Support inventory accounting and distribution center financial operations.
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies, operational exceptions, and vendor-related issues.
• Prepare financial reports, variance analyses, and management reporting packages.
• Partner with Accounting, AP, Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance teams on issue resolution and process improvements.
• Assist with inventory audits, account analysis, and reporting initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 1-3+ years of accounting experience.
• Knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Strong Excel and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Retail, inventory, distribution, or supply chain accounting experience preferred.

Work Environment

The selection process includes two rounds of interviews. The first interview focuses on assessing core accounting skills, technical proficiency, and overall fit for the role. The second interview is with senior leadership and explores your experience with inventory accounting, collaboration with stakeholders, and ability to handle complex logistics-related financial tasks. The position operates in a professional office environment using Microsoft Office applications and Oracle EBS or similar systems, with an emphasis on accuracy, collaboration, and continuous improvement in inventory and logistics accounting processes.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irving, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $33.65/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
