MaineCare Billing Coordinator

RSU 40 Midcoast Maine RSU 40 is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative MaineCare Billing Coordinator to support and expand our school-based billing systems across the district. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that eligible services provided to students are accurately documented, compliant, and successfully billed. This role works closely with special education leadership, related service providers, and program staff across our continuum of services, including LEAD, Bridge, Endeavor, Composite, and Resource Room programs. What You'll Do Oversee and support MaineCare billing processes across the district Ensure services billed are medically necessary, IEP-aligned, and compliant with MaineCare requirements Collaborate with related service providers (OT, SLP, social work, BHPs) to ensure accurate documentation and billing practices Monitor service documentation for compliance, accuracy, and timeliness Conduct internal audits, chart reviews, and utilization checks to maintain program integrity Support staff in understanding billable vs. non-billable services and documentation expectations Assist with coding, service authorization, and claims submission processes Ensure MaineCare eligibility is verified and requirements are followed prior to billing Support onboarding, tracking, and compliance for Behavioral Health Professionals (BHPs) Stay current on MaineCare regulations, including Section 65 and school-based billing guidance What We're Looking For Experience with MaineCare/Medicaid billing in a school or healthcare setting (preferred) Knowledge of special education services and IEP processes Strong understanding of documentation, compliance, and audit requirements Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across schools Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to train and support staff in billing practices Experience with data systems and billing platforms (preferred) Why Join RSU 40 Be part of a growing district initiative to expand and strengthen MaineCare billing Work closely with a collaborative special education leadership team Help build sustainable systems that directly support student services Opportunity to shape district-wide practices and increase program capacity Meaningful work that supports both compliance and student access to services Position Details Location: District-wide (RSU 40) Schedule: Full-time, in-person Reports to: Special Services Leadership Terms of Employment: Per applicable contracts and district policies #J-18808-Ljbffr RSU 40/MSAD 40 SCHOOL DISTRICT
