Bring your passion for supporting students to a dynamic elementary setting, making a real impact as a Special Education Teacher in a resource program for grades K-4. This full-time, onsite contract opportunity offers an engaging blend of direct instruction and collaborative support within general education classrooms, serving a diverse caseload of 8-12 students. You’ll provide both academic and social/emotional guidance, fostering growth and confidence in young learners.
This role runs from August 27, 2026, to June 11, 2027, working Monday through Friday, with a 35-hour workweek. You’ll have a daily 30-minute lunch break and two additional 15-minute breaks, all on a supportive and collaborative campus.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Professional Educator’s License (PEL) required; out-of-state license holders should refer to the ISBE Educator Licensure Information System (ELIS) for further details.
- Special Education Teacher certification.
- Experience in K-4 or elementary special education settings preferred.
- Familiarity with resource models and both pull-out and push-in instructional supports.
- Orton Gillingham or comparable reading intervention training/certification (SLANT, Wilson, Sonday, etc.) highly valued.
- Strong commitment to providing both academic and social/emotional support.
- Excellence in communication, adaptability, and student-centered problem-solving.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction using best practices in literacy and resource education.
- Collaborate with general education staff to support inclusive learning.
- Track student progress, adapting strategies based on needs.
- Engage thoughtfully with students’ families, sharing progress and fostering positive relationships.
- Support Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and contribute to multidisciplinary teams.
