Job Description Reports To: Satellite Manager and Director of Food Service Work Schedule: Summary The Food Service Satellite Tech 3 is responsible for all food preparation and service in the school kitchen and the operation of the cafeteria. Performs on‑site cooking/reheating of entrees and sides. Maintains kitchen in a safe and sanitary condition, practices excellent customer service, and is responsible for understanding federal and state procedures for claiming meals, including operation of the point of sale system. Provides instruction and training to other food service employees. Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities Prepares food according to the food safety plan and manufacturer's instructions Cashiers and trains other staff on the point of sale system Follows established rules and practices while performing job responsibilities Sets up and displays serving line in a visually pleasing and efficient manner Washes pots, pans, utensils, and other equipment as directed Establishes cleaning schedule for the kitchen Maintains health, safety, and sanitation standards for staff, students, and equipment at all times Responsible for understanding the basic principles by which the School Breakfast and Lunch Programs are operated and keeping up to date on current issues and trends by attending the mandator monthly Satellite meetings Responsible to ensure that meals are ready to serve at the times(s) established by the building administrator Performs inventory and accurately completes daily production records Responsible for other duties as assigned Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent Ability to become ServSafe certified Must have effective problem-solving and skills and be able to work positively with potentially difficult people in demanding situations while working toward a resolution Strong customer service orientation and excellent verbal and written communication skills including maintaining professional behavior at all times while communicating and working with other department staff; district staff; parents and community partners Excellent work habits and attendance record with a commitment to meet deadlines and to meet the needs of MCAS students and staff Must be 18 years of age or older Ability to lift 50 pounds including standing for long periods of time and the need to occasionally stoop, crouch and kneel Salary and Benefits Payment Type: Hourly rate per contract Benefits: Per Agreement with MCAS and MCCA The Michigan City Area Schools does not discriminate on the basis of the Protected Classes of race, color, national origin, sex (including transgender status, sexual orientation and gender identity), disability, age, religion, military status, ancestry, or genetic information, which are classes protected by Federal and/or State law (collectively, "Protected Classes").
