Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a difference this academic year by providing dedicated support to young learners in a K-2 self-contained life skills classroom. A unique contract opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher to cover a maternity leave from November through March. This role focuses on fostering growth and independence for students with diverse needs in a nurturing environment.
As an essential member of the school community, you’ll play a key role in delivering individualized instruction and social-emotional support for students in early elementary grades. The position offers a consistent Monday through Friday schedule, totaling 37.5 hours per week, so you can enjoy both professional fulfillment and work-life balance.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification
- Experience teaching in K-2 or early elementary special education settings
- Familiarity with self-contained/life skills curriculum and behavior intervention strategies
- Ability to develop and adapt IEPs to meet individualized student goals
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with families, support staff, and administrators
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, engaging learning environment
Responsibilities Include:
- Providing direct instruction and support to students in a K-2 self-contained life skills class
- Designing and implementing lesson plans aligned to individualized education plans
- Incorporating adaptive and assistive technology, sensory breaks, and positive behavior support
- Collaborating with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and teachers
- Monitoring progress, collecting data, and adjusting strategies to maximize student growth
- Engaging families and caregivers in ongoing communication about student development
