Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher for middle school students in a collaborative and supportive setting near Des Plaines and Vernon Hills, IL. Use your expertise as an LBSI teacher to make a meaningful difference for 8th grade learners through a blend of co-taught and resource classrooms. Classes are structured for individualized attention, with resource groups of approximately 8–10 students.

The contract starts August 17, 2026, concluding May 28, 2027 (pending no emergency days). Early onboarding is encouraged, with access to a comprehensive new teacher orientation if joining by August 5-11. Work a consistent schedule of 35 hours weekly: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7:20am–2:50pm, and Wednesdays from 7:20am–3:05pm, enjoying a 30-minute lunch break each day.

Qualifications & Preferred Experience:

• Valid Illinois LBSI certification required
• Experience supporting middle school students in both resource and co-taught environments
• Ability to operate independently while remaining collaborative with general education partners
• Strong instructional skills in delivering accommodations and modifying curriculum
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive classroom atmosphere
• Excellent communication and organization abilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and support in resource and co-taught 8th grade classes
• Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Monitor student progress and adapt instructional strategies as needed
• Collaborate with general educators, families, and support staff
• Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings
• Assist students in developing academic, social, and behavioral skills
