Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Bring your expertise in special education to an engaging contract opportunity, working with first and second graders in a cross-categorical setting. In this role, you'll support learners with diverse academic, behavioral, communication, adaptive, and functional needs—including a significant group of students identified with autism. Instruction is thoughtfully designed to align with grade-level standards, while targeting individualized education plan (IEP) goals and providing specialized support throughout each day.

You'll deliver instruction using structured and visual teaching supports, behavior and social-emotional interventions, communication strategies, and sensory supports. Your efforts will be reinforced by a dedicated classroom aide, plus additional one-on-one support staff tailored to student and IEP requirements. Collaboration with related service professionals is central, ensuring comprehensive support for every student you teach.

Qualifications & Preferred Experience:

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 Endorsement or equivalent certification
• Experience supporting students with autism and other complex learning needs
• Familiarity with cross-categorical instructional models and evidence-based interventions
• Well-versed in writing and implementing IEPs
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, families, and staff
• Compassionate, adaptable, and committed to fostering inclusive classroom environments
