Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This contract position focuses on providing cross-categorical educational services for middle school students needing a wide array of academic, behavioral, communication, adaptive, and functional supports. Your impact will extend to helping each student reach their full potential by targeting both grade-level standards and individualized IEP goals.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification (Illinois or eligible for reciprocity)
• Experience working with students in cross-categorical or self-contained classroom settings
• Familiarity with IEP development, implementation, and progress reporting
• Strong ability to deliver differentiated instruction and specialized supports
• Effective collaboration skills with aides, related service providers, and families
• Commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive classroom environment

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction aligned to grade-level curriculum and IEP goals
• Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning needs, including structured, visual, and sensory supports
• Implement behavioral and social-emotional interventions to promote student success
• Coordinate with program aides and 1:1 support staff for effective classroom management and student engagement
• Maintain accurate records of student progress, interventions, and documentation for compliance
• Communicate with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure individualized supports are met
